Digitalisation grants for
construction software.
Malaysian contracting SMEs can offset part of a Moorstack build with digitalisation grant funding. The standard SME Digitalisation Grant matches 50% of eligible spend, capped at RM5,000, applied through an MDEC-registered provider. Larger schemes go further, Sarawak's state programme runs up to RM500,000, MDEC's MDAG up to 70%, depending on your state, size and scope. We assess what you actually qualify for on the scoping call.
Four routes, with very different ceilings.
The one most people mean, the standard SME grant, is modest. The bigger numbers exist, but they are programme- and state-specific. See how we price for the build cost a grant would offset.
| Programme | Typical coverage | Administered via |
|---|---|---|
| SME Digitalisation Grant (Geran Digital PMKS Madani) | 50% matched, capped at RM5,000 | BSN + MDEC-registered provider (TSP) |
| Sarawak digitalisation grant | RM5,000 up to RM500,000 (matched) | Sarawak state programme (SDEC) |
| MDEC Digital Acceleration Grant (MDAG) | Up to 70% of qualifying spend | MDEC, for qualifying technology adoption |
| Budget 2026 SME programmes | Varies, some up to six figures | BSN, MDEC, SME Corp, MIDF |
Figures reflect publicly stated 2026 programme terms and change with each budget cycle. Eligibility and coverage are confirmed with the administering body, BSN, MDEC, SDEC or SME Corp, for your firm.
We won't quote you a grant number we can't stand behind.
Plenty of vendors imply a grant covers most of a build. For the standard RM5,000-capped grant, that isn't true on a real custom platform, and a contractor who checks will catch it. So we do the opposite: assess which programme actually fits your firm and state, tell you the real number, and help you apply for it at no extra charge.
If no grant fits, the quote stands on its own. The platform has to pay for itself either way.
Grants, answered straight.
How much of a construction software build can a grant actually cover?
Be realistic about which grant. The standard SME Digitalisation Grant most SMEs reach for matches 50% of eligible spend but is capped at RM5,000, on a RM15,000-150,000 build that is a contribution, not the bulk of it. Materially larger coverage exists through specific programmes, Sarawak's state scheme runs up to RM500,000, MDEC's MDAG up to 70%, but those depend on your state, size, and the nature of the spend, and not every programme funds bespoke software. We tell you which one realistically applies to you, not a headline number.
Is custom-built software eligible for the SME Digitalisation Grant?
Grants are paid for eligible digital solutions delivered through an MDEC-registered provider, and the categories and provider status matter. Bespoke builds need to be assessed against the current programme rules rather than assumed in. We check your eligibility honestly on the scoping call, if it qualifies, we help you apply; if it doesn't, we tell you, and the quote stands on its own.
How do I apply for the grant?
The standard SME Digitalisation Grant is administered by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and applied for through an MDEC-registered Technology Solution Provider (TSP), who submits on your behalf with a quotation for an eligible solution. State and MDEC schemes have their own routes. We walk you through the one that fits.
Is the construction sector eligible?
Yes, construction is among the sectors covered by the SME Digitalisation Grant, alongside manufacturing, services, agriculture and retail. Eligibility still depends on your firm meeting the SME criteria (size, turnover, registration) for the specific programme.
We're a Sarawak contractor, does that change anything?
It can help. Sarawak runs its own digitalisation grant programme with matched funding from RM5,000 up to RM500,000 for qualifying digital adoption, materially more than the federal RM5,000 cap. If you operate in Sarawak, that is usually the scheme worth assessing first.
Does Moorstack guarantee I'll get a grant?
No, and you should be wary of any vendor who does, approval rests with the grant body, not us. What we do is assess your eligibility straight, prepare the documentation an MDEC-registered application needs, and help you submit, at no extra charge. The quote is built to stand on its own value whether or not a grant comes through.
We'll tell you the real grant number.
Thirty minutes on a call. We assess your eligibility across the programmes that fit your firm and state, and help you apply if one does. No inflated promises.
